Julia, wake up!
…
We have to go, it’s a beautiful night.
…
I’m going, if you don’t get up, I’ll go alone.
Where are you going?
To the terrace, to watch the stars.
I’m coming, wait for me.
For a moment nothing happened. Julia was still asleep, her face motionless, her eyes closed, her hands clenched into fists under the bedclothes.
Come on.
Gaia waited at the foot of the bed. Julia stretched her legs, opened her fingers, finally opened her eyes and saw her, closed her eyes, opened them again, looked at her.
It’s night, are you sure you want to go?
Come on!
Julia dressed slowly at the light of the lamp she kept on her desk, then quietly followed Gaia to the door. The girls wore their shoes outside of the door and shut it softly, without making noise. They went up the stairs and reached the terrace where they were alone.
The city was asleep in the darkness, the starry sky was low, very bright. Gaia laid on the grass, Julia laid down beside her.
Let’s count the stars.
Yes, let’s see who can count the most.
