Let me tell you a story, said Gaia.

Julia smiled and sat on the floor next to her. The room was dark but for a candle burning on the old coffee table in front of them. As Gaia spoke her hands projected shadows on the walls. In the shadows Julia saw lynxes and jaguars running from the mountains to the city, hungry, jumping from terrace to terrace under the moon towards the lagoon. Her eyes widened and for a moment she felt the desire to get up and outside, to see, but resisted the urgency and followed the story and the shadows.
