Color pigments were thrown from the terraces and the balconies on people in the street, with flower petals and scented oils. They rubbed them over their faces, their clothes, what fell in water became brighter, for a moment, before disappearing, petals floated away. Gaia brought Julia to the yearly ColorCity festival, held in the Dhak Island. The salizada was packed with barefoot people, dancing on cobblestones. Music was played in the calles, at their intersections and in the campi, with trumpets, drums, clarinets, trombones and tubas, the musicians and their instruments drenched in color and perfume. Kristen was singing somewhere in the island but Julia had some difficulty finding her way around. She pulled the organic map out of her pocket and looked at it, then took Gaia by her hand in Campo dei lupi. Gaia pulled forward and Julia clung to her hand in order not to let her go.
