In January 1898 electricity arrived in the Island of Ostrich. On the very fist night, people congregated in Campo Squero for the first “electric party” of the district, where they saw others brightly at night for the very first time. Tall men became shorter, scary elders funny storytellers while kids neither got younger nor older. Some feared that artificial light would estrange dreams, until they learned they could still close their eyelids. Others discovered the beauty of things they had never seen at night.
